Twilio and Salesforce: the old way vs. Letaido

  1. 1Check Salesforce for new leads
  2. 2Copy each mobile number
  3. 3Write and send the text in Twilio
  4. 4Log the text as a task on the lead
Every hour, find Salesforce leads created in the previous full clock hour (for example 1:00 to 2:00 PM on the 2:00 PM run) that have SMS Opt In (SMS_Opt_In__c) ticked and a mobile phone. Text each one a short intro from our Twilio number +14155550100 with their first name and their lead owner's first name, asking when suits them for a quick call. Then log the text on the lead as a completed task with Twilio's answer.

Frequently asked

Does Salesforce integrate with Twilio? +

Yes. Twilio's own Twilio for Salesforce app adds texting inside Salesforce, and Service Cloud Voice can use Twilio for calls. With Letaido, Leta works from your own Twilio number: it texts new leads and campaign members, and puts text replies and missed calls on the right Salesforce record.

How do I connect Salesforce and Twilio to Letaido? +

Add your Twilio API key in Letaido and connect Salesforce, which needs a one time admin setup first. After that, type the job you want, or start from one of the jobs above.

Can it text a lead the moment they're created in Salesforce? +

No. Neither Salesforce nor Twilio sends events to Letaido. The intro text job checks every hour for leads created during the last full hour, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on the 2:00 PM run, so no lead is picked up twice by the schedule.

Do Twilio text replies and missed calls show up in Salesforce? +

Yes. Every hour, each text sent to your Twilio number becomes a completed task on the matching contact or lead. Calls nobody picked up become high priority callback tasks for the record owner, unless one is already open. Numbers with no matching record are listed for you.

What happens when someone replies STOP to a text? +

The texting jobs only text leads and contacts with a checkbox field named SMS Opt In (SMS_Opt_In__c) ticked, so create it in Salesforce first. When someone replies STOP, Leta unticks that field on their record, and Twilio refuses later texts to that number.

What does texting through Twilio cost? +

Twilio charges your account for every text, per segment. Before texting US numbers from a local number, register it for A2P 10DLC. Twilio trial accounts only send predefined templates to verified numbers, so upgrade your Twilio account first.

How is it different from Twilio for Salesforce? +

Twilio for Salesforce is a per seat app for Enterprise and Unlimited editions that adds an SMS inbox and texting from records, and it handles texts only. Leta works from chat or a schedule, writes each lead's intro, and also turns missed calls to your Twilio number into callback tasks.
